1minus1 launches SocialSafe - The backup tool for Facebook

1minus1, in collaboration with iBundle, has launched an application for backing up Facebook users accounts.

The application, developed in Adobe Air breaks new ground in several ways - firstly, its the first application of its kind available, and secondly its a paid-for Adobe Air application. Building in Adobe Air is a new skill for 1minus1, who delivered the project on time and to budget. The application has been making considerable waves in the market and is selling strongly. 1minus1 has won the site of the day award for our own new website for 1minus1. We've been pretty busy lately working on some new website releases, so this relates to our site of the day award which was awarded on 26th May '08.

WDA is a highly prestigious web award and is one of the most coveted and highly competitive recognitions of quality web design work on the web. It's great news we've won it for our own site, particularly since we never submitted the site ourselves - it appears someone submitted it on our behalf - so, to this individual, thanks! Regent Seven Seas Cruises launches a dynamic new website designed and built by 1minus1

1minus1, an award winning web design and development agency based in Farnham, Surrey announced today that it has launched a dynamic new website for Regent Seven Seas Cruises, an ultra-luxury cruise line offering cruises all over the world.

The new website, based on Java and Web 2.0 technologies provides a dynamic and visual environment to illustrate the quality of Regent Seven Seas. 1minus1, an award winning web design and development agency based in Surrey announced today that it has won a major contract for the design and development of a new website for Regent Seven Seas Cruises, an ultra-luxury cruise line boasting impeccable levels of service and offering voyages to over 300 ports in six continents.

Regent recognised that in order to convey their ultra-luxury product and a higher level of service to their online users, including the travel trade, that they needed to offer more extensive information through a well designed, dynamic and user friendly interface. 1minus1 selected to build Web 2.0 online eCommerce store

Web 2.0, the 'new dynamics' and the death of Flash

Only a few years go, well implemented (and we have to say 'well implemented' because there was - and continues to be - an extraordinary amount of poorly designed Flash websites) Flash was seen as the future of the web. In a way, it was.

Although Flash certainly wasn't embraced in quite the way that many imagined; taking over from HTML as the core building block that websites were built on, at its very best it did provide us with a glimpse of how the web could be - dynamic, fun, and intuitive. However, as a backbone that websites are built on, unless you are an advertising agency or 'plugging in' Flash elements into an HTML based website, Flash has in many cases moved across to be an almost peripheral technology. Google PageRank, does it matter if my website has a good page rank?

There appears to be a lot of confusion over PageRank at present, both in the minds of clients and the mind of web companies. Certainly at what point it appeared to play a key role in Google search algorithm. But does it play such an important part now?

Several months ago, we noticed a wide scale upping of many websites' PageRank, by a scale of one point. We also saw several websites whose PageRank had decreased by one point. The problem was, it didn't appear to make any discernible difference to the manner in which these websites listed - and still doesn't. PageRank 5 websites will list above or below PageRank 3 or less websites, dependent it appears on other factors in the Google ranking systems.
